The best time to visit Rome
The summer in Rome (June to August) is hot and dry, with an average temperature of 30°C. However, these months make up the peak season in Rome which means higher prices and larger crowds at iconic sites.
Therefore we recommend travelling to Rome in spring (April-May) or autumn (September-October) to make the most of pleasant temperatures while the city is quieter.
How far in advance should you book flights to Rome?
We recommend booking flights to Rome 3-5 months in advance as international flights tend to get more expensive the closer you leave it to your departure date. If you’re planning to travel during peak season, we recommend booking even further in advance.

Where to stay in Rome
There are a range of neighbourhoods that we recommend for your visit to Rome. One of the most popular areas to stay is the city-centre neighbourhood of Monti. Monti sits within close proximity to many ancient sites and offers beautiful narrow streets, independent cafes and a cool, hipster vibe.
If you’re looking for some luxury and to be close to high end shops, chic boutiques and upscale dining, we recommend Spanish Steps.
Alternatively, you may choose to stay in Centro Storico. This is a great place to stay for first time visitors who want to be close to major attractions such as the Trevi Fountain.
Top things to do in Rome
Begin by exploring the Colosseum and Roman Forum, where ancient Roman history unfolds. Consider taking a guided tour to hear the true stories behind these ruins. Then, head to the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica.
Stroll through the Centro Storico in the morning for quieter, atmospheric walks, and don't miss highlights like Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, and the Trevi Fountain.
To end your trip, climb the Spanish Steps or enjoy the views from Villa Borghese. And don’t forget to savor Rome’s famous food and gelato along the way!
